IWD has the look of Baldur's Gate. However, when you add the expansion it takes on the appearance of BG2. I would make sure to buy both IWD and HOW at the same time. I got $10 off the purchase price when buying both. Install both right away.

I did the same as you -- BG (for about 2 months) then BG2 (for about 5 months) and IWD is just great.
