D*Ranged has a good point.
Just think off this: Dual class a mage to a fighter and you'll have a fighter with 10 HP + you'll have spent you stat points on int. and maybe wis. so the fighter would have like 10 i str. and con. A pretty weak fighter if you ask me + a mage with just low level spells
