Equip everybody as defensively as you can, meaning low AC and Saving Throws. Set everybody's AI to Standard Attack, and leave the AI on in this room. Even if your characters get Panicked, they'll still attack the enemy, even if you can't control them. If you can control them, they can still do things like use Wands and Healing Potions.
