Yeah, what I'd like to see (Number 417 of my list of Things I'd Like to See in this game) is an actual FAIR game with the Deck of Many Things. The way it was done is far from random, and far from fair: There's a set of things that can happen to Aesgareth (usually things like having to fight a weaker-than-normal Iron Golem), a different set of things that can happen to you (things like Imprisonment), and a probability of who draws the higher 'suit': With each round of the game, Aesgareth has a 75% chance to win the draw.

Which brings us to the essence of how professional gamblers make their living: They aren't actually gambling.

If I had it my way, I'd write up a list of 50 (or so) possible cards that may be drawn. Both Aesgareth and the party's player pull cards from this same list, completely at random. The only parts of the game that are not random are that no card may be drawn twice, and the 'BALANCE' card cannot be drawn while playing against Aesgareth.
