Sometimes if you wear a cheeper form of armour it can be worth it to get those items on. Especilly if it is the +2 or +3 items with saving throws.

I have had guys at -12 or less before, but they had dex of 18, best non-magical armour so I could wear several really good trinkets, sheilds, helmets etc.

Now if only I had a saved game so I could see the exact items.
