Ilyich himself, and his gang, are actually a cinch as soon as you recognize the crucial factor--you control them. It's those ~~expletive~~ cheated Shadow Thieves that make the MOD such an anus-blisterer.

Improved Mae'Var is actually an excellent improvement on his original tactics--the only fault I can find with it is that his Thieves all seem to have a better THAC0 than Korgan.
