I found him to be quite handy after a few attempts. My party is Me a Lvl 40 Monk and Sarevok who is Lvl 30. I had Sarevok up at the door and then used the Monk to hit Saladrex twice fast and run back behind the arch. I then used a Protection from Fire scroll on Sarevok and used my Crossbow +4 + unlimited bolts on him. He knocked me out and scared me but I juat waited. It was the first time I had to take my monk out of the battle. Sarevok was only getting 3 damage done to him because he had 45 Fire Res. before the scroll. Try and use the arch to your advantage.
