Well, Nerull, I obviously can't set up my version of the game as a paragon of how the Jaheira quests "Should" be, but these are a few of the things I've seen in past games:
- Getting pretty far in her Harper quest (encounter with Reviane's group of Harpers and then Dermin's) without ever getting her Cursed or buying the locket
- Getting pretty far in her Harper quest without Romancing her at all
- First meeting with Dermin in places like the Temple District and the Docks District, and never right after resting
In my current game, we've just entered Chapter 5. I did everything I could for her Quest and Romance in Chapters 2 and 3, but both plot lines seem to have crashed and burned before the end of the second week. No flirts, no LoveTalks, no Meronia. I stayed in Chapter 3 an extra week (doing nothing, and avoiding Quest EXP like the plague--saving that for Imoen), sitting around and waiting for Jahiera-related stuff to happen, but nothing doing. I am sorely tempted to hack my Blade of Roses into her Helmet slot and leave it at that.
In light of this, the next edition of Volothamp's Comeuppance will feature a very large sidebar; it
would be a Chapter unto itself, but it has to branch off of the Chapter on Cheating. This sidebar is, of course, all about the F'd up B that is Jaheira, and will describe everything you need to give her a good hard boot to the head--and yes, I mean giving the names of
every single variable and their correct values. I want to give gamers the
entire set of tools they'll need to set her straight (starting with the ball peen hammers). As I estimate that I've tried (and failed) to Romance her about 4 times in the past, and this is my
THIRD run through the game with the same character, trying to Romance her, I have lost all patience with this pathetic freak show that BioWare thought was "fully patched."
