Sola is very good too, in my opinion; Jan is very cool but in many games i gave him up for Imoen, because she is a better mage and gets better Bhaalspawn Abilities with Ascension Mod. Anyway my picks would be Sarevok(greatest fighter yet; best 2h-pity he can wield Carsomyr-, and if u're patient he can be very good halberd wielder for Ravager), Sola(very good fighter-mage; gets Dimension door and combines perfectly tank&spellcaster modes) and Edwin(BEST mage npc). i haven't played Valen yet but i heard she is good 2. Too bad there aren't any npc Kensais or Monks.
