Well... if you start the game as a male, get in a romance, and then use shadowkeeper to change your sex to female, the romance will continue. I did it before, so I guess it won't matter.
As for the cow, it's actually was spell called summon cow, it was in BGI and II, but as an easter egg. It do some damage, I don't rmember how much.
