Once your Cleric gets Raise Dead, you get to save some of your gold, by not having to visist the temples.

Well, I was going to be a softie and only boot the Evil ones when they died, or when I found someone of a more pure alignment. I was actually hoping to use Xzar and Monty as cannon fodder against Tarnesh (as Pritchke said), but we all survived Tarnesh without a scratch. Of course, if I was playing REALLY nice, I would have Raised Xan, but it just slipped my mind.
The Nashkel Mines is only a pain for Level 1 characters because of the lack of hitpoints, causing possible instant death. Otherwise, it's a piece of cake; It's
Nimbul who's difficult.
By the way, in BG1 your Cleric will NEVER get Raise Dead, unless you're playing without the EXP cap.
