I am about to go out an buy BG2 and Throne of Bhaal.
Is throne of bhaal an expansion, like lord of destruction is to diablo II?
Also I was hoping someone could clue me in on what all to do to get the most from my game. For instance, after I install BG2, what patches do I need?
(or which patch is the best)
What downloads to you suggest?
It seems like there are many to choose from....
Should I bother with an editor yet.
This game seems really awesome, I'm sure I will spend alot of time at this forum too.
Another question-
Is Neverwinter based on AD&D too?
What others are there?
These AD&D games are cool to me, because I already know all the monsters and
rules, etc...

First a word of welcome to you Crowley
Furthermore, seems like most of your questions are already answered, but here's some more detail if you're interested:
NeverWinter Nights or NWN is based on D&D 3rd edition.
Really great game, apart from the bugs.
Other games are: Baldur's Gate (BG or BG I) and the expansion "Tales of the Sword Coast" (TotSC). There's also the unofficial expansion "Dark Side of the Sword Coast" (should be around on the net somewhere or I can get it for you).
Further games: Planescape Torment (PsT) and Icewind Dale (IWD) and IWD 2 (must admit that I don't know for certain if that last one is already available or not).
Discussion about which of these games are good / bad have been going on for quite a while and you should have no problem finding threads on this.
Imho all of these games are great, but it entirely depends on the style of game you like to play whether or not you will enjoy them.
Editor's are off-limits imho unless you have at least played through the game one without editing/cheating or if you want to re-create a pnp character.
Enjoy the game !!!
