That's what I meant by misleading, but it's always been the case for me, right through BG1 and IWD, that the description for grandmastery is wrong. It's as if the +1 attack per round is cumulative with the 1/2 attack per round for the earlier specialisations. I've just tested this by starting some random new games. I created a kensai with ***** in halberd, and straight away at level 7 he had 3 attacks per round, 1 base, 1/2 from level 7 and 1.5 from grandmastery, which means that he would have 7/2 at level 13, and 4 with the gauntlets. The patch i'm using for BG2 came from baldurdash which sets the grandmastery to the same levels as in IWD and BG1. In IWD, using a greatsword at level 13 with say **** in the greatsword proficiency, a character would attack 2.5 times per round. If then at level 15, you place a fifth point in greatswords, the character would then attack 3.5 times per round. It's the same principal when you use the gransmastery patch for BG2.
