I would make an army of Craxelicrox's then to defend myself (I don't know if I spelled it correctly. I don't even know if you use the same word for it in English - but it is the big ugly bird I am speaking about).

Edit: Ahh - I forgot to make a comment on the beggar plan: What an excellent plan. Most of the beggars are probably unemployed former kobold-killers (read: Heroes) that has been expelled by their home town community because of the pro-kobold propaganda agitated by a certain Mr. Under Hill.
