The Bastard Sword that begins with an F is one of the BEST weapons in the whole damn game. And sorry, Rob, but you appear to have screwed yourself out of it (you'll NEVER find it) by entering the 1st floor of Watcher's Keep too soon. You see, the game adjusts itself to the party's level: If you're high-level, there will be more difficult enemies, or simply a greater number of enemies. If you are low-level, you will be facing fewer, weaker enemies. When you entered WK, the game removed some of the statues, to pose less of a challenge to you.

And one of the statues carried that Bastard Sword.

Now we know. Don't enter Watcher's Keep unless your party is at least Level 11-12, on average.
