I soloed a wild mage. It was quite amuzing. I actually summoned birds instead of mordenkainen one time.

And yes, mages are like every class put together. Fighter? Tensers transformation. Cleric? Summon Planetar. Thief? Knock.

Its quite pointless to have a fighter, cleric, thief in your party when you could have a mage.
