Assuming you have the Robe of Vecna and Amulet of Power.
Just use this combo, Time Stop --> Improved Alacrity.
You will be able to exhuast most, if not all, of your offensive spells before the Time Stop runs out.
Oh, and I always set the Autopause to pause when a spell is casted.
