at this point, taking Edwin could be just the advantage you need. i agree that Viconia herself should be able to cover all the priestly spells you may need, just stock her up with a lot of mass defensives (bless, chant, prot. from evil 10' radius, etc.) in addition to her normal stuff, and you should be alright.
edwin, as a specialist, will have even more spell slots than aerie did, and will be the ultimate magic-user considering you are already that far in throne of bhaal. delight in the huge amount of 9ths he will soon be able to cast! 9th level mage spells are the paramount coolness of the whole game, and the more, the better!
