Did you get the eggs yet? If memory serves, you should be able to leave after you get the eggs. I am not sure from your post the exact timing, but they are located either on the matron mother or in a gaurded room in the northeast potion of the temple.
The third time I played through, I used a Rambo approach and just walked in and took the eggs. The silly, wimpy drow could not stop me.
