In the BG2 configuration screen, going to miscellaneous, under AI options is frame rate. Default is 30 frames per second. Setting this to 60 doubles the speed of the game, so instead of waiting 30 minutes of real time play between dialogs, you only need to wait 15. Just a note that you'd better have a high-end machine if you're going to do this.
You can also advance dialogue by pressing CTRL+I (sort of).
