Have not played the archer, but from the manual, all abilities are capped at lvl 20, when the special abilities kick in. Rangers get to choose tracking, in addition to critical strike, deathblow, greater deathblow, whirlwind, greater whirlwind, hardiness, power attack, resist magic, and smite. From the descriptions, it's not clear if the strikes, deathblows, and whirwinds are applicable to missile weapons. I think that it's just melee' weapons. Someone else will have to help out with this...
