There is a timer activated battle that concludes the action on the Jaheria romance. I ran into problems once when, because I'd been away so long, the opponents turned up as soon as I emerged from the underdark, and the elves went hostile when I defended myself - which screwed up the main plot. I had to reload about 6 times before I avoided the enemy spawning.
