A very good spell is sunray (do you have the sword that casts it?).
What level is your party. Chances are you are too weak. If so dont be afraid of leaving it and coming back later.
Note that liches are immune to spells level 5 and below, which unfortunately includes breach.
You can wait outside for his mantle (and other spells) to wear off.
And..
A slightly cheesy way:
Use polymorph self to transform into mustard jelly (100% magic resistance). He cannot harm you. Wait with all others outside. Once he finishes casting and goes mellee, bring others back in and hack him to pieces.
And...
A VERY cheesy way (DONT use it. I never do. Again DONT USE IT even if you cant do it any other way. It's better to leave the lich and come back later when youre more powerful)
