Well I like more the mage multicharacters, but a cleric ranger may be cool too, though i dont like cleric spells. I used my cleric part of the cleric/illu only to summon creatures and then strike the enemies with the mage part. The mage/thief or mage/fighter combo could be nice too, especially with 2 ring of wizardry. This is the stuff I used with the illusionist/cleric (maybe iīll forget something, itīs been a long time)
helm and cloak of balduran, shield+2, robe of the neutral archmagi, boots of speed, 2 ring of wizardry (or 1 with the claw of kazgaroth i donīt know), greenstone amulet, girdle of piercing, the sling+3 and the staff-mace.
