Take a look at immunity to crushing weapons, veritable immunity to elemental attacks, 80% slash/pierce resist, 85 missile resist. Tack on Improved bhaalspawn power 4 and you get immunity to all 4, but that's a really long ways away. Improved hell tests gives 30% slashing resist, and Ritual gives yellow dragon armor with 50% pierce/missile. So again, is PMW all that necessary?

Compare that with PfMW, which means that you don't have to worry about AC, Stoneskin and Mirror Image, which means that you don't have to worry about being hit on the odd chance that your PfMW isn't up, and PfE and other random odd elemental protections spells. Same result and more items for the rest of the party.
Not to mention that in a party, those goodies will be distributed to different members of the group.
