make sure you've got large and small portraits (with L and S at the end of the filenames)
make sure they're bitmaps (.bmp files)
(if you't got these off a portraits site the site owner should have sorted this for you)
go to you BGII folder
create a new folder called 'Portraits'
copy the bitmaps into the folder
start a game, create a character and when you're at the portraits bit clik the 'Custom' button and you should see your portraits
