I am taking my solo bard through the Temple Ruins. I've installed the Unfinished Business Mod and it added an extra element to this particular quest. When I insisted on getting the pure Illithium for the church's sculpture from the ore merchant, she sent me to discuss this with her "source" - the quiet dwarf at the front table in the Copper Coronet. After grumbling about having his identity revealed, the dwarf told me his brother had gone to the mine where they get the illithium, but had not been heard from since...and he asked if I would go rescue the brother.

Once I got to the Temple, I fought through most of the undead and got to the level with the fire pit, liches and other assorted baddies. A Pit Fiend was also included in the group, and it ended up killing ALL my enemies except for the lich itself (which was nice in one way, but it sucked losing all that experience).

Anyway, I defeated the first lich, then crossed the fire pit to the area where I meet the two spirits waiting for the Amauna's bones that I found in the first room. I give them the bones, freeing them to seek their eternal rest. I also speak to the spirit of Amauna herself and she supposedly gives me the wardstone to get past the Shadow Dragon.

After defeating the next lich down the hall from this area, I went across the "chessboard floor" and found the missing brother - who was none too happy about his brother revealing his identity and location (must be a "duergar thing" :rollseyes: ). He left and I went into the next room, where I usually have to fight a Shadow. He wasn't there, but I did recover another piece of the Sunstone Symbol needed to open the door to the Shadow Dragon's lair.

But once I tried to go after the dragon, I realzied that I only had TWO of the THREE pieces needed to form the Sunstone Symbol. I backtracked through the entire dungeon area, searching every possible area. Then I finally checked out a "Walkthrough" on another site and realized that the two spirits were supposed to give me the second piece of the Sunstone Symbol, but they never did. I searched that room from top to bottom, but there was NO Symbol part to be found there (and my inventory was not full, so I didn't accidentally "drop" any items. Anyway, I finally gave up and just used SK to get the Symbol needed to open the door.

I went downstairs to the dragon's lair using all possible stealth, only to have the Shadow Dragon start yelling that he was going to "feast on my heart"!!! He started attacking right away. So obviously, Amauna's spirit did NOT give me the wardstone I needed either. That's not so bad, since I was naturally planning to fight the dragon anyway, but it would have been nice to get a few pre-buffs up BEFORE the dragon went off on me.

I was Searching through old threads to see how others defeated the Shadow Dragon, and saw that at least 1 or 2 other members encountered the very same problem - they never got the second piece of the symbol from the two spirits in the room right after the fire pit.

Any ideas what causes this bug and what can be done to fix it (other than Reload)?
