Maulthaussen is 100% correct about Keldorn and Viconia being in the same party. They'll be fallout along the way and from everything I've read Keldorn gets the upper hand.
I have used Cernd and though I eventually replaced him with Mazzy (one of my favorite NPCs)I did enjoy his character and the quests out of Trademeet was very interesting. However, his stats are pretty weak.
