There is less roleplaying incentive to advange to Chapter 4, true, but there are still plenty of reasons to go:

To rescue Imoen, simply because she's an innocent victim of wrongful imprisonment.
To kill Imoen, so that more essence is left for you.
To get revenge on Irenicus for torturing you.
To find out what Irenicus knows about your origin.
To kill Irenicus simply because he's an evil bastard.
To eradicate the Cowled Wizards, or at least destroy their power base.
Because you've destroyed all the (Vampires/Shadow Thieves) and there's nothing else to do.
