The only place for a Level 1 Mage is as far away from melee combat as possible. Since, as a Kensai, you can't use Darts or Slings, you'll have to put a point in Daggers and hope you've got enough Throwing Daggers (or one of those cheesy returning ones) to last until you get your Kensai half back.
