I was wondering... what do you ppl do with Vithal ?
I'm asking because I've always had a serious problem with Vithal: I know he carries certain items I'd like to get... but I can't kill the guy! I just can't!.
To clarify things, it's not that Vithal is too hard to kill. As a neutral mage, he's a moron who doesn't mind casting "Agannazar's Scorcher" on... a Fire Elemental, no less! (you on crack, Vithal?!). If he goes hostile, he's a pretty decent fight, with defensive spells and TimeStop+Imprisonments+Dimension Door if things go ugly. Sneaky, but killable.
Now, my problem with him is... I can't just go and kill such a nice guy!
Let's check it out:
Vithal is well-educated and soft-spoken. He always says "Please" and "Thank You" . He asks you to "Wish him Well" before going into the portals, and is "glad to see you" when he comes back. He apologizes at once if you make him feel like he just said something wrong. Above everything -and this is what my current PC (LN CLERIC/MAGE with a HOT temper) likes the most- Vithal treats "CHARNAME" with the respect due to a godspawn. (And a cheesy one, BTW.) Adalon and Elhan & his goons could learn a few things from this guy.
I remember I killed Vithal guy in my first "evil" game and... would you believe this ruined the rest of my game? I mean, I was finishing the game, fighting Irenicus in Hell, (SoA - No ToB) and I still couldn't stop thinking "Man, I can't believe I killed that nice mageling in the Underdark". Duh!.
How do you ppl handle this guy, and how do you justify whatever you do?
TIA
