Assuming you're not simply out of spells or used up all abilities for the day...

A likely culprit could be wireless keyboard or mouse, got either? Look for solutions to that problem on the Bioware BG2 forum.

Your 4). and 5). seem to be the same thing unless 5) refers to Baldurdash. There is only one "latest" patch, and it is years old, .24698.
