The story from BGI is far better. The immersion from BGI is far better. The feeling of wanting to play more is far better in BGI. BGI is balanced. BGI lacks a bit in gameplay.
BGII has the gameplay, two-weapon fighting rules. It has a balance problem. Even in normal SoA, you would get way too many magical powerful equiment at a time that's way too early. Big problem, because it messes up the potential of fun in the gameplay. Mages aren't scary anymore as in BGI, they're just a nuisance, just as that troll!
Still, I chooseth BGII over BGI because of one simple thing: diversity. BGII gives you the option of making so much, and equipping with so many different thing that it takes more than a hundred times to play to try it all out! And that's what I want in an RPG, lots of choice!
