I always like to have some "theme" to my party.
My original BGII party was very good. It was made up of:
Cerek - Wizard Slayer/Thief
Mins - dual wielding Crom Fraeyr and a 2nd Hammer of T-bolts
Keldorn - wielding his Holy Avenger, of course
Imoen - Staff of Magi
Jaheira - Gave her various scimitars and staves throughout the game. Didn't use Gnasher very much.
My current party is evil and consists of:
Kelric Val'Caern - Assassin
Viconia
Korgan
Edwin - he definitely gets the best number of spells in the game.
Yoshimo
Jaheira
I have plans for a another party I plan to start soon that will consist entirely of demi-humans:
Ethan Hunter - halfling bounty hunter
Jaheira
Mazzy
Haer'Dalis
Aerie
I would love to have Korgan as my tank - and I may take him for awhile, but he and Aerie don't get along. I do have a Mod that eliminates party members leaving over alignment conflicts, but that doesn't really fit the RP aspect of the game. I also like Viconia - and my halfling is CN, so he has no problem with evil alignments - but Jaheira and Aerie should provide all the healing we need.
I have a real conflict between choosing Korgan or Aerie. Korgan is arguably the best tank in the game (with Minsc being a close second, IMO), but if I'm sticking to the them of demi-humans, then Aerie is the ONLY option I have for mage spells. And I think Jaheira, Haer'Dalis and Mazzy should be able to handle any melee that comes our way.
So, those are some of my favorite parties. I've also created a female Undead Hunter named Buffy Van Helsing (lol - it doesn't get much cornier than that). She will be a perfect match for Anomen, because she will be just as snobbish and obnoxious as he is. They should get along great.
