However, we're looking at this from the point of view on how characters hear Drizzt's name.

Why is it that so many characters, who aren't affiliated with Drizzt, hear his name as Drizzit in the book?

All I'm saying is it doesn't add up. If Drizzt is really saying "Drisst", then how come the 8 non-important characters that say Drizzit are hearing his name that way? If it's his accent, then how does he correct people? Does he literally go through a whole grammar and pronunciation lesson just to do so?
