Well...
It's a good story.
But.
You're asking a lot of us. You want us to accept that a dwarf left his clan (They're alarmingly clan-oriented, but exceptions do exist); spends lots of time outdoors (They feel more comfortable in caverns, but exceptions do exist); follows Lathander (They're fiercely loyal to their own gods, but exceptions do exist); that he was on a ship (They abhor water travel, but exceptions do exist); and that he agreed to learn finesse (They hack at things with axes, but exceptions do exist).
Now, the circumstances of the finesse are exceptional (That sort of thing doesn't normally happen, but exceptions might exist), so the teleportation to the mysterious meadow alone might be stretching it...
But these six traits are warning flags, and all six exceptions existing in one character? Highly doubtful, though possible.
Perhaps this might work better if this were a gnome, or a halfing, or even a half-elf?
