In any case, if not against the Beholders, then against anything else. Globe of Blades has a saving throw penalty of -2 and deals 10d10 damage per round. Well worth the 1 round needed to cast it, especially in melee scrums (more so since the Deva will engage in melee anyway).

Gauths have Save vs Spells 11, regular Beholders have Save vs Spells 5 though, so they got a 35% chance of being struck.
Like I said, I simply forgot about it, there was no other particular reason I didn't use it in this fight. Would've been nice, but not a world of difference.
