As Dron_Cah said, Haste and Chant are your friends. But one spell, in particular, should not be overlooked.

Know thy Enemy. Know thy enemies' Tactics. Then, know thy buffing spells.
+3 enchanted weapons (or better) are still absolutely vital. (Most Demons cannot be harmed by weapons of any enchantment less than +3.)
