AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhh HHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I hope I spelled that correctly. Anyway, what a stupid crock! I had my face all set for winning a Cleric stronghold (for my
very first time), and then I had to run head-on into this pit of festering ooze. Would it help if I'd temporarily SK'd my class to
Fighter/Cleric? Or does anyone know the correct Global Variables that'll allow me to beat some sense into High Watcher Oisig and/or Dawnbringer Sain? (Or, if I just CLUA'd Sain into the game, would talking to him be enough to correct the issue?)
I
would simply install Oversight, but for some reason my computer doesn't like it. Waaah!

I don't know for sure but I thought the spell free action prevented all forms of holding effects.

Stun is a *mental* effect, not a *physical* effect. Free Action will shield you from things like Hold, Web, Entangle, Slow, and Haste, but for mental and psionic effects such as Stun, Charm, and Confusion, it's
Chaotic Commands that does the trick.
I do find it odd that the Chapter 5 critter you mention was able to immobilize you, however. In my experience, its Paralytic Gaze effect has always been "Hold," not "Stun."
Oh, and to clarify:
Duergar: Dwarves with grey skin, also known as "Grey Dwarves." Commonly of Evil alignment.
Svirfneblin: Gnomes, also known as "Deep Gnomes." Commonly of Neutral alignment.
