Sonic the creators of BG and BG2 have to set limits. A computer can't handle the variables that a human DM can handle and so the possibilities must be limited. What is your paladins justification for siding with the Vamps anyway? I'd be interested in hearing that. At any rate we must simply go with what we are given in the case of PC RPG's.

I would personally side with the ST's because they hate Jon at least as much as I do, while the vamps are his minions and every betrayal you experience was spawned from Jon or Bodhi. I don't see what the confusion is. The thieves never once used you for their own gain only to try and ice you once you've done them a favor. It is not a matter of them being good so much as them being the more good, or at least the lesser of two evils. It is possible to have an honest thief. I play one all the time. I'll steal anything from a house so long as it is not a weapon. And I'll always leave at least 5 gold for them. I'll never steal from someone who can't afford it.
