The only thing their grumbling affects is the temperment of the person behind the keyboard!
I've been known to give NPCs sex-change operations (with the handy-dandy girdle of masc/fem) or strip them naked and send them scouting (if they *really* are unbearable!). Ajantis makes a lovely little warrior babe and Jaheira--well, there's really not much difference whether she's male or female....even Khalid can't seem to tell the difference [img]graemlins/hehe.gif[/img] .
