What surprises me is that the thread has gone of for so long and had resposes from Dundee and now myself, without anyone knowing the answer. Well, let's go with what we do know:
  • If an enemy is killed by any creature friendly to the party (such as Summons, Projected Images, etc.), the party gets the EXP.
  • If an enemy is killed by its own attack that got bounced back at it (by Spell Turning, Cloak of Reflection, Shield of Reflection, etc.), the party gets the EXP.
  • If an enemy is killed by its own attack that was NOT bounced back (such as some stupid Mage standing around in his own Death Fog), the party does NOT get the EXP.
  • If an enemy is killed by somebody not allied with the party (such as an Amnish Guard helping you beat up some Muggers), the party does NOT get the EXP.
So, basically, we have five possibilities:
- The Dragon did something that caused its own death, whether intentionally or not.
- There is a 3rd party present (such as Yoshimo) who snuck in and scored the killing blow. (Hey, a great way for low-level characters to Level Up really fast! I went from Level 1 to Level 8 Thief in 10 seconds!)
- One of your party members (or Summons, or whatever) fired the shot or cast the spell that finished the Dragon off, but died before the Dragon did.
- Weimer scripted the Smarter Dragons to kill themselves. Unlikely, as this is the first time I've heard of it, and I've killed my share of Improved Dragons myself.
- You two have some funky bug.
