XP should have some drivers that would at least let you get it where it runs, and can surf to find what you need. If nothing else, it should at least be able to run any USB ports, and you can just plug a mouse in, and maybe a keyboard if you needed to.

If all else fails, I have an ecycling outlet store by where I live, and I'm certain that there would be lots of them selling refurbished laptops for cheap. I think they sell them for 150 dollars at the store by me. I have run into situations messing with older computers where it was ultimately cheaper to just buy a "klunker" for what the computer was supposed to be doing.
