Just browsing today and saw some references to upcoming PC games in 2011. The first one that caught my eye was The Sims Medieval. At first I thought it was an expansion to Sims 3, but turns out It's a brand new game. It's an interesting twist to the Sims franchise, combining the new Sims 3 engine with medieval aspects like questing, kingdoms and magic. I already like the Sims as it is, but now with this fantasy spin on it I am gonna be sure to pick it up and give it a whirl.

Quote:
The Sims Medieval will provide a medieval setting for the player to work within, with newly designed buildings and scenery to give an authentic "back in time" experience.
In a change from other Sims games, Medieval will involve the player building a kingdom, choosing an ultimate goal for that kingdom (such as wealth or popularity) and then fulfilling quests that contribute to that goal. The goal can be completed through the use of heroes (or specialists), for example, the player can have a wizard and a physician cooperate on one quest.
Although players will be able to customise the pattern and layout of building interiors, the basic structure and shape of buildings won't be changeable.
Unlike The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, the Sims Medieval will not be a generational game. That is, to say, the characters in the game will not progress through life stages. The Sims will still be able to procreate, but those children will never age to adulthood. Thus, the monarchy will likely not be inheritable.

The other one that caught my eye was a reboot of the well-known "Dungeon Keeper" games. It's simply called "Dungeons". Not sure if there's alot of money behind the marketing, as I heard nothing about it until accidentally stumbling upon it this morn, but it certainly looks interesting. It releases next month apparently.
Quote:
Dungeons differs from Dungeon Keeper in that it isn't monster's needs that the player has to look after but those of the heroes. In order to gain the Soul Points needed to purchase high end equipment for the dungeon, heroes need to be killed only after they are fully satisfied. Things that make a dungeon run satisfying to a hero are obtaining treasure or fighting a challenging but not overpowering opponent. Unlike Dungeon Keeper, the player also has an on screen avatar, the Dungeon Lord, who can carry bodies to the prison room to have their Soul Points harvested or roam the dungeon defeating heroes. He will re-spawn at the dungeon heart if he is slain.
