Yes sometimes public speaking is hard, and we all fumble when we do it over and over. But he taught law school for years, and that's daily public speaking. What Obama did NOT do was state incorrect facts. In fact, part of the reason he got hung up was he couldn't recall the facts and didn't want to misstate them.

Palin, on the other hand, either was dumb and got it all wrong or LIED. Pick your poison. She incorrectly stated (or misrepresented) that ALL of the Bush tax cuts would expire, and she started rattling off a fear-mongering list of taxes that were going to affect YOU, the average Joe. But none of that is true. The proposal is to let only the tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% expire.

The problem is that the Repugs are again forcing the Dems into a lose/lose situation. If no action is taken, then ALL of the Bush tax cuts will expire. (To me this is preferable to letting them all continue, but that's just me.) So, the congress needs legislation that will renew the tax cuts, modified to let that $650 Bn in cuts expire for the top 2%.

So, the Repugs will fight the legislation, misrepresenting it as Palin did. Then the Dems will be forced onto the horns of a dilemma: let all the tax cuts expire and then be called out for raising taxes, or extend all the tax cuts and let the Repugs continue to hand $650Bn over to the rich (which includes all of the members of Congress, of course).

It's politics, dirty politics. The question you Repugs ought to put to your leaders is what are they fighting for here? Are they really fighting for the wealthiest 2%? Cause if so, isn't that shitty of them? Or are they just playing dirty politics to let the Dems get egg on their face? Cause if so, isn't that shitty of them?
