What I am getting at is that there may be a slight tendency in the normal psyche of chinese to de-value kids - and in the nutjobs this is then much worse and they end up spreeing with axes and stuff...

Good observations . Yes, and it doesn't have to be a mental disorder (even though, to us, it seems like one) to be true. Simply a form of conditioning inherent to the Chinese mindset, perhaps. Like the way a certain mentality is held by an entire region, such as, a small kinda rural town that seems to place a much lower value on animal life (i.e. stray dogs or their own pets) where, a few miles north you would find quite a different attitude and mindset. While it might be horrifying to witness this contrast, it is what they are used to and has been accepted as "the norm".
