There are the carat variables - if you insert a ^ in a text event or other event in the text area, it displays the currently selected party members name. A carat with a number inserts the name of the character at that position, with 1 being at the top, eg. ^2 lists the name of the second PC in the party.
Then, there are the ASL carats - ^A through ^Z, excluding D, H and M (they can be used but are already associated with time). These carats are defined through logic blocks.
