Fonts are easy-breezy but very time consuming.
I haven't done it in quite a while, but I used an open source piece of software and plugged in bitmaps.
That was very easy for making the FRUA font, but took a lot of time to do my handwriting font - I had to write out, scan, convert and then size before importing into program. I, of course, did all of the special characters, I think up through 125 or so.
