Re: Antagonist's Anarchy: Magically-Deviant Mental Asylum (or OOC)
You have 200 points to spend I think, so you start with assigning attributes. They'll probably have values of around 2 and 3, depending on how you want to specialize.
A halflingesque character (stereotypically speaking) would have low Strength, decent Agility and high Luck. If they are to be roguelike, they could use high Perception, while Intelligence and Aura wouldn't hurt. As a warrior, they have more use for Endurance and a higher Strength, as a magician they'll want Intelligence and Spirituality so you assign points there. Get a mix which represents your character, and keep enough points to spare for the next fields.
Disadvantages are permanent or situational handicaps your character suffers and picking those weaknesses gets you some extra points to spend. It's fairly arbitrary, as the whole process is.
Skills are flavour for your character, a way to introduce some background and life experience gained prior to joining the adventure. Spend some points on these either to support your character's profession or as a quirky ability no one thought you had but which might miraculously get you out of a tight spot.
After that, you have to decide on your main method of killing people (assuming a pyrotechnics skill or your Aura score doesn't cover that already). If it involves using a weapon, pick some Weapon Mastery skills. If it involves using magic, pick some magic schools (of your own invention if you want).
You're probably short on points by that stage so go back and scrap some things.
Magic can also be used to support the adventure rather than slay, give that a thought too. For the warrior who wants magic-like attacks, there is the Signature Technique field. Throw in any other unique talents here as well.
Lastly, your signature attacks, special abilities and magic are going to eat up essence, so you could think about expanding your essence pool.
With your character built pretty much however you please within the points limit, don't forget to fill out the other descriptive fields which tell us how he/she looks and what past events led to them being the way they are. Oh, and assemble a modest inventory.
You'll still be short on points by the time you're done, so post the thing as is and then assume your character is cooler and more effective than what you wrote in ooc thread.
