We have the benefit of knowing Variol over many years and know that he is not a nasty or vindictive person, so we don't read anything wrong in his joke post, I certainly did not. Carrot dude may or may not know Variol as well which may or may not have influenced his reply but I see nothing in his reply that was not already in the joke.

You're right, carrotdude was only responding to the tone he read in the OP.

You, on the other hand, did cross the line by resorting to personal insults and profanity. Responses like that are what led to the moratorium in the first place.
